How to be an eco-friendly mountaineer in 2018!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This year we have partnered with Green Connect and Blue Citizen to minimise our environmental impact and keep our Mountain looking as beautiful as ever. Green Connect will be working alongside us to ensure all cans and bottles are recycled and have the second life they deserve.

Here are our top 5 tips to minimise your impact on the mountain in 2018.

1. Bin your Tins and Cut your Butts

It’s as easy as that. When you’re done with your beers and butts – find a bin and chuck it in.

2. Clean your surroundings when you’re chilling out

There’s a million and one places to sit at and relax at Mountain Sounds Festival. If we all work together to keep our spaces clean, litter will not be as big an issue.

3. Reuse your water bottle

Bring your own, and if you can’t do that – only buy one and refill it at one of our water stations! You’ll save yourself a bit of cash, and help to save our mountain.

4. Fill up a bag and come to #Msf19 for free

This year we are stoked to announce we will be giving away 5 double passes to Mountain Sounds Festival 2019! Simply return a full bag of rubbish to go in the drawer!

5. Carpooling

Carpooling is a great way to save space and money to drive up the mountain. We recommend it as not only do you get to play the MSF18 Spotify playlist on repeat, but it’s also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.

Carpooling = saving money = less emissions = happy mountain and happy mountaineers 🌈🌱

Last minute check-list for all you MSF18 camping adventurers

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

You’ve got your ticket?  You’ve got a couple of mates?  You’ve been listening to the MSF18 playlist on repeat?  The car’s packed for a road trip up the mountain to our new festival site?

We’d say you’re about ready for Mountain Sounds Festival 2018. Before you head off – here’s our last minute packing list for everyone who got super keen and forgot they might still need some essentials….we’re looking at pretty much all of you 😏.

  • Pack a tent…It seems crazy obvious but you’d be surprised! If you’re having a team sleepover – make sure your tent fits everyone.
  • Tarps – rain, hail or shine, these bad boys have got your back.
  • Tent pegs – check before you leave whether your pegs are inside your tent bag.
  • Sleeping bags/blankets/pillows – there’s nothing better than collapsing into a pile of pillows after a day of grooving to Gang of Youths, Motez and Touch Sensitive.
  • Gumboots! Even if there’s only the slightest chance of rain Mother Nature can still trick you and turn it on 🌳🌍.
  • ID, ticket and card – MSF18 is an 18+ event and ALL mountaineers will be checked upon arrival. Don’t forget your ID because you will 100% have to go home and get it – we promise 😉.
  • Food and snacks – don’t forget to pack enough for you and your mates. There will be a tonne of stalls available on site, but having food at your campsite will help you save cash and time.
  • Water – there will be water available inside to buy and through various fountains, but it doesn’t hurt to bring a few extra bottles to the campsite. This will help you be an eco-friendly mountaineer (by reusing your bottles) as well as save you some mulla on the day.
  • Communal table and chairs – Easy to forget, and when forgotten makes for sad reacts only 😢. Put it high on your list and make sure you bring them to MSF!
  • Items such as medication, sanitary items, sunscreen, sunglasses, comfy shoes, cold and wet weather gear & a hat.

Last but definitely not least, bring good vibes to MSF18! If you see anyone doing anything uncool, or trying to ruin the festival for someone else, report them and see if that person is doing okay.

Us mountaineers are all in this together so let’s look after each other and have the best Mountain Sounds we can.  🌈

Peking Duk Revealed as Secret Headliner

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The wait is finally over. After months of anticipation, we are pumped to announce ARIA award winning duo Peking Duk as the festival’s secret headliner.

Confirmed legends Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles are one Australia’s hottest live acts, having wowed festival go-ers at Splendour In The Grass and most recently Falls Festival with a killer live set up that now boasts live instruments including guitars, drums and keyboards.

And no one knows how to put on a party quite like the boys: their live show will leave you sweat-soaked, champagne-sprayed and picking bits of confetti out of your hair for days. Fans attending will also be among the first to hear Peking Duk’s brand new single ‘Wasted’, which has been sneaking its way into the live set and is the follow up to their huge summer anthem ‘Let You Down’.

Peking Duk join a heavy weight bill that boasts some of the biggest domestic and international festival names around including multi Aria Award-winners Gang Of Youths and Amy Shark plus Hot Dub Time MachineGrouplove (USA), SafiaHayden JamesThe PreaturesTouch Sensitive and loads more.

We are also stoked to be teaming up with Holly Rankin (Jack River) & Collective Artists to introduce and programme our very own ‘Electric Lady‘ stage. The all-female line-up for the Friday of the festival will feature artists like Alex the AstronautTia GostelowExhibitionistElaskiaLittle Quirks and lots more.

Survey Improvement #3

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

You asked…and we listened. Just after #Msf17, we asked for your opinions about what worked and what didn’t. We’ve spent some time looking through your responses and we’ve heard you! Here it is, we bring you..

Improvement #3: Access To Campground From Festival

In 2018, we will be offering freedom of movement between the festival site and your campsite for all our camping mountaineers – the campground is now COMPLETELY integrated with the festival site!

What this means is that during the day, if you get tired and need to have a little nap, need to grab a jacket or forgot your best mate back at the campsite, you’ll be able to jet on back and get them before Gang of Youth’s epic set.

However, the campground is an Alcohol Free Zone so drinks will need to be finished prior to access back into your campsite.

This is following on from our commitment to provide more amenities and the addition of our brand spankin’ new campsite

Improvement #2: Bigger, better & fantastic-er campsite

Alrighty, guys, here we are, take two. After the campsite last year – thanks to mother nature 🌿🌍 – turned into an in-tents (ha!) mix between tough mudder and a scene from Titanic, we knew something had to be done. That being said, we are stoked – and we think you’ll be too –  to bring you a BRAND NEW campsite for 2018.

We first opened up camping on the mountain in 2015 and after three years at its previous home, we are super pumped to introduce you guys to the next level of the mountain in 2018.

The features of our new campsite include:

  • Sealed roads
  • Level ground
  • Free power facilities
  • HOT showers

And, finally, to make things even sweeter for all you camping mountaineers, we will be integrating our campsite with the festival grounds meaning camping ticket holders will be able to move freely between the festival and the campsite over the weekend.

This joins our commitment to improve our amenities for 2018.

Stay tuned for more epic improvements…

  • 3 Nights (Thursday – Saturday): $69+bf
  • Saturday Night: $39+bf

Benjamin Fraser’s vital brand of self-expression ebbs with a primal energy that belies his years. At just 27, rising out of the bolus of the Central Coast’s creative community, his deft hand and dedication to the pursuit of his creative urges are all too evident in the costumes that he has designed for the announcement campaign for Mountain Sounds Festival 2018.
